A perfect example of existential unravellings exposing the delicate balance of all life forms, the accident signals a disruption, a breakdown in meaning on the continuous path of existence. In response to external perturbation, living beings engage in a continuous mechanism of self-organization aiming at maintaining their balance. Within the framework of the technical acceleration where a growing desire to carry out a maximum number of tasks in a minimum amount of time is ever present and the reliability of systems is glorified, the accident exposes limitations, fallibility and what cannot be controlled. By integrating a behavioural dimension inspired by living beings, this research/digital art creation offers insight into weakened, fractured poetic objects, whose delicate balance displays both their limitations and adaptability to disorganizing events. These aesthetic experiences, which contrast balance and imbalance, synchronization and desynchronization, acceleration and deceleration, promote the study of emerging behavioural transformations.

This exhibition is made possible through the Yvonne L. Bombardier Graduate Scholarship in Visual Arts, a program offered in collaboration with the Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Centre and the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation.
