Dish Picks: CO/NTRY

Ever ask yourself where a world-class chef goes to have lunch in between recording sessions with his bandmate? Nestled in Côte-de-Neige’s bizarre and soon-to-be demolished Wilderton Mall is the hidden gem that is Sushi Q. Amongst a myriad of shops selling everything from kitchenwares, hunting knives, and drug paraphernalia lies the cutely decorated sushi counter, slanging delicious and reasonably priced cuts of fresh fish.

CO/NTRY‘s Beaver Sheppard and David Whitten have been busy as of late, having just put out an LP entitled ‘Cell Phone 1’ back in April, with a bunch of local shows and a stack of tour dates on the horizon. We caught up with them for a quick bite before they leave again for god knows where and for how long.

The Order

“We love Sushi-Q… best sushi deal in town! The family who runs it are actually Japanese. We love the mall so much. There is nothing at all to do really. Maybe we love it because the entire mall is on a slant. It feels like a time warp to 1992. We always have so much fun! Beaver lived across the street from the mall for three months and discovered this gem one day. He swears by combo #5… you don’t need the salad.

We ordered one combo #5 and one combo #4… and one strawberry drink with a crazy amount of packaging for 220ml.”
