This 52-minute documentary – whose title echoes the mythical Paris is Burning (1990) by Jennie Livingston takes us into the vibrant world of the Paris ballroom scene and the vogue community.

Lasseindra Ninja and Stéphane Mizrahi are two French pioneers of Voguing, a dance created in the 1970s in the gay community of Harlem. These two “mothers” have given themselves the mission of transmitting to the young of the French suburbs this homosexual culture very codified. Ce documentaire de 52 minutes — dont le titre fait écho au mythique Paris is Burning (1990) de Jennie Livingston — nous plonge dans le monde vibrant de la scène ballroom parisienne et de la communauté des vogueurs.

Lasseindra Ninja et Stéphane Mizrahi sont deux pionniers français du Voguing, une danse créée dans les années 70 au sein de la communauté gay d’Harlem. Ces deux « mothers » se sont données comme mission de transmettre chacune à leur manière aux jeunes des banlieues françaises cette culture homosexuelle très codifiée. Avec rigueur et patience, ils apprennent à leurs « enfants » à danser, à être élégants, mais aussi à être fiers de leur genre et de leur couleur de peau.
